As mentioned before -- Ice water is Mejeriets preferred cooling system.
Some good reasons for Ice water as cooling media in the processing
The Ice on the tubes – The Ice Bank – can be built up during the night where the surrounding temperature is much lower – and often the price for electricity is lower during nighttime
Compressor Units can be smaller and thereby more economical because they don’t need to coop with peak performance. — You have ice in the bank.
Water from the ice bank will be 0,5 to 1,5° C and when it returns it might be 5-6° C and it will be drizzled over the ice for more efficient cooling.
With larger capacities of Ice water cooling, the system change form. See illustration to the right.
This form is practical when it comes to very high demands on Cooling Media
Many years ago, when the Dairy was much smaller and the climate was countable, Denmark could save ice from the Lakes and streams in the winter and store the ice as cooling media for the summer.
Mejeriet’s refrigeration suppliers can deliver with HFC refrigerant or green and future-proof refrigerants such as R290 Propane and HFC R1234ze.
